Trump supporters lead Patriot Parade Sunday in Perry

A locally organized Patriot Parade rolled through Perry Sunday afternoon under gray skies and a cold north wind but with the zeal of some 75 supporters of President Donald J. Trump burning fiercely.

The event was hosted by Larry Carpenter of Perry and David Crooks of Perry as an opportunity for citizens to show their support “for President Trump and our wonderful police, military and first responders.” The event was open to the public, but all “commie bastards and blood suckers” were pointedly excluded from the Trump-style patriotic event, according to the group’s Facebook page.

Among the Trump supporters were George and Beverly Barker of Perry, who said they support the reelection of President Trump because he is “a man of his word.”

Carpenter introduced Iowa Sen. Jake Chapman (R-Adel), who greeted the crowd as “true patriots” and assured them “that we will never accept socialism in this great nation.”

Chapman did not mention by name the Black Lives Matter movement against racial injustice, but he said “liberal Democrats” want “total anarchy, vandalism, looting. Not only are they destroying private property, but they go and destroy our public monuments. That cannot stand. Donald J. Trump stands for the rule of law. That’s what we stand for: the rule of law.”

Chapman said voters must decide between “Republican control” and “total anarchy.”

“Under Republican control, we will never defund our law enforcement,” he said. “We will always stand with the brave men and women who stand on that thin blue line between total anarchy and protecting life and property.”

Carpenter also delivered a brief speech prior to the start of the parade, which planned to travel from Perry through Adel and to points father west before returning to Perry. Carpenter said he was moved to organize the parade in response to liberal and leftist opinions that he saw expressed on Facebook and felt were undermining America’s morals.

Edmund Burke said, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” Why are we different? We base our beliefs on time-tested, blood-bought documents and writings. We do not base our beliefs on the whims and twisted ideals of liberal college professors, perverted Hollywood moguls and spoiled million-dollar sports, music and movie stars.

I did not know much about Donald J. Trump four years ago, but what I did notice was that the people hating him also despised all I hold dear and believe in. I have immense respect and admiration for people that can get hit and keep moving forward, and Donald J. Trump is a freight train. The 1776 Initiative is brilliant and long overdue. A nineteenth century Frenchman by the name of Alexis de Tocqueville said it well when he wrote:

I sought for the greatness and genius of America in her commodious harbors and her ample rivers, and it was not there. I sought for the greatness and genius of America in her fertile fields and boundless forests, and it was not there. I sought for the greatness and genius of America in her rich mines and her vast world commerce, and it was not there. I sought for the greatness and genius of America in her public school system and her institutions of learning, and it was not there. I sought for the greatness and genius of America in her democratic Congress and her matchless Constitution, and it was not there. Not until I went into the churches of America and heard her pulpits flame with righteousness did I understand the secret of her genius and power. America is great because she is good, and if America ever ceases to be good, she will cease to be great.

If we want to restore the America we once knew, if we want to influence those who have been indoctrinated with Marxist, socialist and communist ideals, then we must first look in the mirror. America is great because of the goodness of her diverse people. The buck stops with each individual person. One of the most powerful and wealthy kings in history once prayed a prayer. He knew that when peace and prosperity came, the people would forget where their blessings came from. His prayer was immediately answered from above. This is part of that famous answer.

2Ch 7:14 and My people upon whom My Name is called, shall humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their evil ways, then I shall hear from the heavens, and forgive their sin and heal their land.

The 200-year-old documents we hold so dear, written on parchment and stained with blood, are based on 10 laws written on stone more than 3,000 years ago and also paid for with blood, 10 laws once hanging in every school and courthouse, 10 laws outlining what it means to love one another and love our Heavenly Father. If we want America to remain great, we have to return to those 10 antiquated laws, the cornerstone of our beloved United States of America.

We are American patriots. We love our Father in heaven and the ultimate sacrifice He paid. We love our families, and we love our blood-red, white and blue American banner, representing the land of the free and the home of the brave.

The Patriot Parade event was not sponsored or paid for by the Dallas County GOP, which will host a Trump Train Parade Trifecta from the Dallas County Fairgrounds in Adel Monday at 5 p.m.

  1. It is interesting that you see these types of events for the Trump-Pence campaign but nothing of this sort for the Biden-Harris campaign. I have been to several places that I must admit lean towards the Republican side and have seen all kinds of Trump-Pence merchandise for sale but nearly nothing for Biden-Harris. You can find it online if you look hard enough but not the variety of items. It is also amazing to me that former Vice President Biden did nearly no campaigning last week. In all of the elections that I remember, candidates from all parties hit the campaign trail hard during the final month if not before. It would be interesting if the local Biden-Harris supporters would stage this type of rally. Time is quickly running out, though.

    • Is that why Joe referred to Donald Trump as “George ” (twice) yesterday?
We can safely surmise after the second “George” they decided he needed to rest today, not anything to do with the virus.
