Tuesday morning fire at Longest Yard nipped in bud

A fire was reported shortly after 7 a.m. Tuesday on the rear stairway of the Longest Yard sports bar in Dallas Center.

A fire on an exterior stairway at the rear of the Longest Yard Sports Grill in Dallas Center was quickly controlled Tuesday morning by firefighters of the Dallas Center Volunteer Fire Department.

Also responding to the blaze at the rear of the popular sports bar at 1405 Walnut St. were the Dallas County EMS, Minburn Volunteer Fire Department and Adel Volunteer Fire Department.

There were no apparent injuries in the incident. The cause of the fire on the upper steps of the stairway at the rear of the building is unknown at this hour.
