Perry Mayor John Andorf administered the oath of office to two new Perry Police Department members Monday night: Officer Jordan Berry and Officer Alex Lott.

Berry is from Indianola. He earned a bachelor’s degree at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. After a stint in the Iowa National Guard, Berry gained experience in security and as a Veterans Administration police officer. He will soon begin a 14-week training course at the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy and then return to full-time duty in Perry.

Lott, a Perry native, took up his duties with the Perry Police Department Aug. 10, 2020, the day of the derecho wind storm. He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa and a master’s degree from Purdue University. Lott completed his academy training in December 2020 and was the captain of his class.

“They will be a great asset to our community,” said Perry Police Chief Eric Vaughn in introducing the officers to the Perry City Council, who warmly welcomed the law men to the department.
