Two positive cases of COVID-19 in Perry schools this week

One adult and one student in the Perry Community School District tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, between Dec. 7-11, according to PCSD Superintendent Clark Wicks.

A Perry High School adult tested positive Monday, Dec. 7, and a Perry Middle School student tested positive Friday Dec. 11. All students and families in contact with the student and staff member have been notified, Wicks said.

In addition, six students were quarantined for 14 days in conformity with Dallas County Public Health Department guidance, he said.

Wicks said that all other students can attend classes as normal.

The SARS-CoV-2 virus has infected 21 students and five staff members since classes began Aug. 19 in the PCSD, according to communications from the PCSD. The list of cases follows.

The current population of students and staff in the Perry Community School District numbers about 1,801, including about 1,521 students receiving onsite instruction and about 159 receiving off-site instruction.
