Two-vehicle collision at First and North diverts rush-hour traffic

A two-vehicle collision on First Avenue (Iowa Highway 144) near North Street is causing rush-hour traffic to be diverted onto Paul and North streets Thursday afternoon. Motorists are advised to avoid the area until emergency personnel complete their tasks.

Two-vehicles collided about 4 p.m. at the intersection of First Avenue (Iowa Highway 144) and North Street in Perry.

Paramedics are treating occupants on the scene for what appeared to be minor injuries.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area until emergency personnel complete their tasks at the scene. Northbound traffic on Iowa Highway 144 is being temporarily diverted onto North Street, and southbound traffic is being diverted onto Paul Street.

The Perry Police Department is investigating the cause of the collision between a passenger minivan and a passenger car. Both vehicles sustained front-end damage and came to rest pointing northward on First Avenue but on opposite sides of the roadway.

The Perry First Responders, Perry Volunteer Fire Department and Dallas County EMS also responded.
