Two-vehicle wreck briefly ties up First Avenue traffic Saturday

A Minburn woman was cited for failure to obey a stop sign after her passenger car collided with a pickup truck shortly after noon Saturday in the 600 block of First Avenue in Perry.

A two-vehicle collision in the 600 block of First Avenue shortly after noon Saturday caused the temporary closure of one lane of Iowa Highway 144 as officers of the Perry Police Department sorted out the incident.

It is unknown at this hour whether any injuries occurred when the Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck collided with the four-door passenger car. One person was transported to the Dallas County Hospital by the Dallas County EMS.

The truck came to rest pointing northward in the southbound lanes of First Avenue, and the car came to rest in the parking lot of a retail store on the west side of First Avenue. Debris from the collision was seen in the roadway, and the truck appeared to sustain front-end damage.

The circumstances of the incident are under investigation at this hour.

The Perry Police Department and the Dallas County EMS responded to the incident.
