Unattended burn pile draws dousing by Perry Fire Department

Perry Volunteer Fire Department First Assistant Fire Chief Brian Eiteman hosed the burn pile that someone apparently left unattended WEdnesday afternoon west of Perry.

A two-person crew on a tanker truck from the Perry Volunteer Fire Department put out a fire at 17764 130th St. near Perry Wednesday afternoon before it spread to nearby structures.[wpedon id=”82220″ align=”center”]

The blaze was reported by a passerby about 2:15 p.m. on property owned, according to county records, by Grace Cozad and Timothy J. Odin.

First Assistant Fire Chief Brian Eiteman and Deputy Fire Chief Kevin McLaughlin answered the afternoon call and knocked down the fire in what appeared to be an unattended burn pile that someone left smoldering.
