UPDATE: Autopsy performed on man found in Adair County

GREENFIELD, Iowa – An autopsy was conducted Friday on the lifeless body of an adult male found July 1 along a rural roadside in Adair County, according to a statement issued by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI).

The DCI and Adair County Sheriff’s office are investigating the death as suspicious.

The cause and manner of death of the man, found near the intersection of 320th and York streets in southeast Adair County, remain unknown pending further investigation by the Office of the State Medical Examiner, the DCI said.

Additionally, the identity of the man is also unknown pending further investigation by the DCI Criminalistics Laboratory and notification of family members.

The investigation by the DCI and the Adair County Sheriff’s office is ongoing, and anyone with information as to the identity of the man or circumstances surrounding his death is asked to call Adair County Sheriff Jeff Vandewater at 641-743-2148.
