UPDATE: First Avenue reopens after two-vehicle collision

First Avenue has reopened after emergency personnel responded to the two-vehicle collision on First Avenue near North Street in Perry Thursday about 4 p.m.

First Avenue (Iowa Highway 144) has reopened to through traffic after two-vehicles collided about 4 p.m. at the intersection of First Avenue and North Street in Perry.

Paramedics treated occupants on the scene for what appeared to be minor injuries.

The roadway reopened about 4:45 p.m. after northbound traffic on Iowa Highway 144 was temporarily diverted onto North Street, and southbound traffic was diverted onto Paul Street.

The Perry Police Department is investigating the cause of the collision between a passenger minivan and a passenger car. Both vehicles sustained front-end damage and came to rest pointing northward on First Avenue but on opposite sides of the roadway.

The Perry First Responders, Perry Volunteer Fire Department and Dallas County EMS also responded to the incident.
