Four people were injured Sunday afternoon in a rollover accident at the interchange of U.S. Highway 169 and U.S. Interstate 80 in De Soto.

The Iowa State Patrol (ISP) issued a crash report Sunday night on the multi-vehicle accident at U.S. Highway 169 and U.S. Interstate 80 that closed the state highway Sunday afternoon.

Four persons were injured in the mishap, according to the ISP report.

The collision occurred at 3 p.m. when Constantino A. Alvarez, 70, of Estherville was traveling south on U.S. Highway 169 in a 2012 Chevroley Silvarado 2500, and Scott E. Toland, 60, of Winterset was exiting U.S. Interstate 80 in a 2019 Toyota 4Runner and turning south onto U.S. Highway 169.

In the collision, Alvarez’s vehicle rolled and came to rest in the west ditch on its top. Toland’s vehicle came to rest in the southbound lane of U.S. Highway 169.

“All drivers and passengers were transported to local hospitals,” according to the ISP.

Alvarez was transported to Mercy Hospital by Dallas County EMS, and Toland was transported to Mercy Hospital by Mercy 1 Air.

Michael M. Bradshaw, 63, of Estherville was transported to Iowa Methodist Hospital by Lifeflight. Michael W. Mathine, 41, of Estherville was transported to Iowa Methodist Hospital by Dallas County EMS.

Assisting the ISP in the incident were the Dallas County Sheriff’s office, De Soto Police Department, De Soto Volunteer Fire Department, Van Meter Volunteer Fire Department and the Iowa Department of Transportation.
