Public safety agencies gathered in the 2100 block of Sycamore Street Sunday afternoon to investigate an incident initially reported as a stabbing but about which law enforcement is currently not releasing any information.

GRANGER, Iowa — The Granger Police Department is investigating an incident that occurred Sunday afternoon and that was initially reported to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Communications Center as a stabbing.

“It’s an investigation that is currently underway, and I can’t really release any information,” said Granger Police Department Officer Chris Knouse. “All I can tell you is this did not occur at the Assumption Church.”

But exactly what “this” was that did not occur at the church was more than Knouse was prepared to state at this hour.

“Like I said, I’m not going to comment on the investigation at this time,” he said. He did say his department has made “no arrests at this time.”

According to law enforcement radio traffic at the time of the incident, a caller from Nebraska reported a stabbing about 4:15 p.m. Sunday at or near the Assumption Catholic Church in Granger.

Like Knouse, a spokesperson for the church denied any such incident occurred at the church.

According to law enforcement radio traffic at the time of the incident, someone first reported the attack to the person in Nebraska, who in turn relayed the information to the Dallas County Sheriff’s office, which responded to the report along with EMS.

The public safety agencies eventually parked in front of a private residence in the 2100 block of Sycamore Street.

“Call back tomorrow,” Knouse advised ThePerryNews.com, which will update this story as information becomes available.
