A Grimes man was arrested for drunk driving Friday night after he was involved in a fender bender near First Avenue and Park Street in Perry.

Jared Robert Willson, 26, of 2213 N.E. Destination Circle, Grimes, was charged with first-offense OWI.

No injuries were reported in the collision of a passenger car and pickup truck, which occurred about 8:30 p.m. Both vehicles came to rest pointing eastward on Park Street next to the Kans-R-Us recycling center, and the front passenger side of the truck appeared to strike the rear driver’s side of the car.

Willson allegedly blew a .215 in a preliminary breath test administered at the scene, according to law enforcement radio traffic. He was taken into custody and transported to the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave.

Willson was convicted of public intoxication in 2018 in Dallas County District Court.
