No longer heartbroken and homeless, Oscar, 14, has found a humane caregiver.

Many readers have inquired after Oscar, the calm and companionable 14-year-old dachshund who came in need of a new home after his longtime human roommate encountered health troubles and could no longer look after Oscar.

The story has taken a happy turn. The gentle wiener dog’s transitional handler sent an update Wednesday, and it sounds like Oscar is now living on Easy Street.

“Oscar is on a farm, getting lots of love and attention,” his former guardian informed ThePerryNews.com. “He has adapted very well in a home that had become very quiet after the passing of their dog recently.”

A picture of the lucky little dog shows a telltale trace of fur in the upper-left corner, suggesting Oscar now has some feline companionship in his golden years. It is hard to imagine anything more apt to make an old dog feel young — and foolish — in the springtime.

Oscar’s generous handler said he was overwhelmed by the compassionate responses and inquiries he received over Oscar — and still receives.

“I received a phone call this morning from Massachusetts from a nice young lady inquiring about Oscar,” the doggy’s adoption manager said. “She’s been worrying for a month that we did not find his forever home. It’s a reminder that there’s so many caring people. I didn’t ask the name of the lady from Massachusetts, but she said she was a native of Perry. So ThePerryNews has followers at least from Massachusetts to Arizona and probably worldwide.”

ThePerryNews.com wishes kindness and compassion to prevail from coast to coast and pole to pole.
