UPDATE: OWI charge filed against unconscious teen driver

A Perry teen faces a drunk-driving charge after he was found unconscious behind the wheel of a running vehicle about 4:30 a.m. Monday in the parking lot of a Perry gas station.

Alexis Soto-Campis, 19, of 627 Third St., Perry, was charged with first-offense OWI in connection with the incident.

Officers of the Perry Police Department allegedly found Soto-Campis in the idling SUV when they responded to a report of a man passed out at 1219 First Ave. in the parking lot of the Circle K convenience store.

The Perry First Responders and Dallas County EMS also responded and examined Soto-Campis’ medical condition before he was placed under arrest and transported to the Perry Police Department and then to the Dallas County Jail.

Soto-Campis is held at the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled to make an initial appearance before a Dallas County Magistrate at 9 a.m. Monday.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
