A party to the two-vehicle collision on Iowa Highway 141 at 10th Street in Perry early Friday afternoon said the accident was not related to the two-day mania for garage sales now gripping the state highway from Grimes to Sloan.
“We were not part of the 141 garage sale crap,” said Pam Richards Deardorff of Perry, a passenger in one of the vehicles. “I can’t say the same for the other car.”
There were no injuries in the accident, which occurred about 1:30 p.m. and left one vehicle in the south ditch on Iowa Highway 141 and the second on the south shoulder of the eastbound lanes.
Airbags deployed in one of the vehicles. The Dallas County EMS also responded.
The Perry Police Department issued a citation to one of the drivers for failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way.
Motorists are urged to use caution on and around Iowa Highway 141 as the sales continue Saturday.
