A Perry man was arrested for drunk driving early Wednesday after rolling his pickup truck into the ditch on Deer Avenue just north of 330th Street in Boone County.
Mark Lawrence McCarty, 54, of Perry was charged with second-offense OWI after failing field sobriety and registering a preliminary breath test reading of .193, according to the Boone County Sheriff’s office.
McCarty suffered minor injuries after his vehicle came to rest upside down about 1:45 a.m. in the 2200 block of Deer Avenue, about one mile west of the Perry Gold and Country Club. He reportedly refused medical treatment by the Boone County EMS, the sheriff’s office said.
The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the accident.
Also responding to the incident were Perry Police Department Officers and the Perry Volunteer Fire Department.
