The Perry Police Department on Sunday released the drivers’ names and some of the circumstances of Saturday’s three-vehicle mishap at the intersection of Iowa Highway 141 and Willis Avenue.

According to the police report, a white Chevy Kruze, driven by Saydee Strough, 16, of Perry, was traveling eastbound on Iowa Highway 141 and turning northbound onto Willis Avenue when it was struck by a blue Dodge Ram pickup truck, driven by Adam Wittrock, whose age and place of residence are not stated in the police report.

Wittrock’s truck collided with Strough’s car, according to the report, “when it turned in front of him.”

The force of the collision drove Strough’s vehicle into contact with a white Ford F250, driven by James Nelson, whose age and place of residence are not stated in the police report. Nelson was stopped at the stop sign on Willis Avenue and waiting to turn onto Iowa Highway 141 when his vehicle was struck, according to the report.

One person in Strough’s vehicle was briefly trapped following the incident, and at least one person was transported to Methodist Main Hospital in Des Moines.

The Perry Police Department, Perry First Responders, Perry Volunteer Fire Department, Dallas County Sheriff’s office and Dallas County EMS responded to the incident.

No charges have been filed in the mishap. The Perry Police Department estimates the combined damage to the three vehicles at $15,000.
