A Jefferson woman was injured, and her husband was cited Sunday afternoon when they pulled out in front of an oncoming vehicle Iowa Highway 141 at Victory Avenue, one mile west of the Jamaica road.
A 2013 Ford Fusion, driven by Fred Molle, 93, of Jefferson, was in the southbound lane of Victory Avenue, waiting to turn eastward onto Iowa Highway 141, according to a report issued Monday by the Iowa State Patrol.
Betty Molle, 89, of Jefferson was a passenger in the vehicle.
Fred Molle was waiting for westbound traffic on Iowa Highway 141 to clear before entering the state highway.
John Jordan II, 38, of Johnston was traveling westbound on Iowa Highway 141 in a Chevrolet Tahoe “approximately two car lengths behind another vehicle,” according to the report.
The vehicle that Jordan was following turned north onto Victory Avenue, and Fred Molle “stated that he did not see” Jordan’s oncoming vehicle and “pulled out into the path of” Jordan’s vehicle.
TheĀ 2 p.m. collision deployed air bags in both vehicles, which came to rest on Victory Avenue just south of Iowa Highway 141.
Betty Molle was transported to the Greene County Medical Center by the Panora EMS.
Fred Molle was issued a citation for failure to obey a traffic control device.
Also responding were the Yale-Jamaica-Bagley Volunteer Fire Department and Guthrie County Sheriff’s office.
