UPDATE: Young victims identified in one-vehicle rollover Tuesday

The Iowa State Patrol has identified the victims in Tuesday’s tragic SUV accident west of Dawson.

Killed in the crash were Claire Brown, 5, of Perry and Lindsay Brown, 8, of Perry.

Seriously injured in the rollover accident were Eli Brown, 4, of Perry, Katelyn Brown, 11, of Perry, Carter West, 5, of Dawson, Randy Seratt, 11, of Dawson and Micheal Marie Crane, 16, of Perry, who was driving the 2014 Toyota Sienna at the time of the accident.

According to the ISP accident report, the vehicle was traveling northbound on Beaumont Place and “transitions over bridge and veers from right to left. Driver’s side travels off road to left and veers right and travels off road to the rights, impacts the south side of drive and travels over field drive and comes to rest facing east.”

All the occupants were wearing seatbelts except Lindsay Brown and Katelyn Brown, according to the report.

Iowa State Patrol Sgt. Alex Dinkla said the accident occurred about 11:30 a.m. in the 12100 block of Beaumont Place just north of Greenbrier Creek. He said a final determination of the cause of the accident is pending the completion of the investigation by the ISP.

Also responding to the tragic SUV accident were the Dallas County Sheriff’s office, Guthrie County Sheriff’s office and numerous EMS agencies, Dinkla said.

  1. Where did the kids find the keys to open the vehicles and then start it? If the keys were in the vehicle, then the adults responsible for this must be charged as an accessory and negligence. Was the engine running or turned off? All these questions will asked in a court of law. Make it a habit to turn off the engine and lock it even if away for a very short time. Hope and pray that the young victims will be okay!
