An Urbandale man was arrested early Saturday after allegedly assaulting his pregnant girlfriend while their 4-year-old child slept.

Marvin Tramaine Hill II, 27, of Urbandale was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

The incident began about 2 a.m. Saturday in the 4400 block of 142nd Street, where officers of the Urbandale Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

According to court records, Hill “had been out with his friends and when he got home at approximately 1:49 a.m., he did not have a key, so he was texting the victim to let him in. The victim was sleeping and when she answered the defendant’s texts and let him in,” Hill “was upset.”

Hill allegedly “put his hand around the victim’s neck while pushing her against the laundry door, which lifted her to her toes and caused her to gasp for air,” according to court records.

Hill then “grabbed the victim by her shirt, lifting her up, and slapped her across the left side of her face with an open hand while yelling at her and telling her that she was a good for nothing and she treats the defendant like dirt and she is a ‘broke bitch,'” according to court records.

Hill was held in the Dallas County Jail prior to an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is innocent until and unless proven guilty.
