PANORA — Decided scoring edges in both the first and third quarters allowed Van Meter to improve to 6-0 overall and in WCAC boys action with a 61-47 win over Panorama Friday. The host Panthers fell to 1-6, 1-5 with the setback.

While the Bulldogs posted only a 14-13 advantage in the second period, a 17-8 run through the first eight minutes allowed the guests to enter the half with a 31-21 lead. Panorama was outscored, 19-12, in the third quarter to drop into a 50-33 hole, far too much of a margin to erase.

Gracen Welberg (16), Michael Allen (11) and Blaine Barber (10) were the scoring leaders for Panorama. Malachi Peasley and Kolby Shackelford had three points apiece, with baskets from Trey Cobb and Zac Rizzutti capping the scoring. A visit to Woodward-Granger Tuesday will conclude the pre-holiday portion of the schedule for Panorama.
