Van Meter holds on to edge Panorama baseball

PANORA — Panorama scored in the bottom of the sixth inning Friday to draw with 2-1 of visiting Van Meter, but could not finish off the comeback, falling by that final in WCAC baseball.

The Bulldogs (8-0-1, 5-0-1) had scored once in the first and once in the sixth before the Panthers (4-2, 3-2) launched a rally.

Drew Taylor walked to start the comeback attempt, with Brice Taylor rapping a single. A base hit from Dominic Walker drove in a run, but the hosts were unable to send another player across the plate.

Brice Taylor had two hits and Walker one. Evan Taylor walked twice and Drew Taylor, Austin Block and Brice once.

Drew Taylor tossed 6-1/3 innings, yielding two runs on nine hits while striking out one, with Preston Walker retiring two batters.

Anthony Potthoff struck out five and walked five while allowing one run on three hits in seven innings of work. He had a single, double and RBI to help his own cause.

Jack Pettit had a triple, and Brett Berg two singles and a RBI while Tyler Haynes scored once as a courtesy runner.

Panorama visits AC/GC Monday, hosts Ogden Tuesday and then entertains Interstate-35 Thursday and West Central Valley Friday.
