A Van Meter was arrested in Adel Friday night for drunk driving after she struck a pole with her vehicle and drove on.

Colleen Beth Sites, 43, of 5255 Kelsey Dr., Van Meter, was charged with first-offense OWI and cited for leaving the scene of an accident, improper use of lanes and open container.

According to court records, a caller reported Sites’ 2018 Toyota Camry struck the pole at 16th and Greene Street shortly after 10 p.m. and then proceeded westward on Old Highway 6 in Adel.

A patrol officer with the Adel Police Department located and followed Sites’ vehicle and “observed it swerving within its lane.” A traffic stop was initiated, leading to the arrest.

A test later showed Sites’ blood alcohol content at .202.

Sites is held in the Dallas County Jail on an $2,027.50 cash or surety bond. She is scheduled to make an initial appearance Saturday in Dallas County District Court.
