The occupants of the vehicle are being examined at this hour by members of the Perry First Responders and Dallas County EMS.

The incident occurred shortly before 7 p.m. at the intersection of Willis Avenue and 13th Street, where the van was traveling westbound when it sheared off the pole on the north side of the street.

The cause of the accident is under investigation at this hour.

The van sustained significant front-end damage, and its air bags deployed.

A witness said she heard screeching tires and then a loud noise before the power pole fell.
