Perry-area customers of Verizon Communications Inc. are currently experiencing an interruption in mobile telephone service.
“If you live or work in Perry and have Verizon, there is no service until further notice,” a statement issued by the Perry office of Verizon said Thursday afternoon.
Verizon Communications Inc. is the largest U.S. wireless communications service provider.
“We have no idea why or what happened,” the statement said. “It’s not just Verizon, but Centurylink, Mediacom and U.S. cellular are down as well. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
The statement provided no estimated time when the service will be restored.
