Rev. Darrell Mitchell shared stories Saturday afternoon from his recently published autobiography with a crowd of a dozen at the Carnegie Library Museum in Perry. Mitchell’s memoir covers his family life and his spiritual journey.

“One must never give up in our pursuit of justice,” Mitchell told his listeners. “God can help us.”

Mitchell read passages from his memoir and embroidered them with stories and letters. He said he studied both theology and pastoral counseling and worked in many challenging environments, such as the Topeka State Hospital in Topeka, Kan., during the height of the shock-treatment era.
