Graveside services for Violet “Vi” Sheets of Dallas Center are Thursday, April 19 at 2 p.m. at the Brethren Cemetery near Dallas Center, with fellowship to follow at the American Legion Hall in Dallas Center.
On Tuesday, April 10, 2018, Vi was sent to the Lord, passing peacefully in her sleep at home from complications of dementia and unable to walk.
Vi is survived by her husband of 67 years, Harold; their three children, daughters Veronica LaBar and Janell Davis of Perry and son Marley (Annette) Sheets of Newton; grandchildren, Valissa Werner, Jennifer (Matt) Spooner, Heidi Miller, Kisha (Brett) Niebuhr, J. D. Galivan, Josey (Stephanie) Galivan, Madison Sheets and Allison Sheets; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Pearl and George Massengill; brothers, Edgar (Bub), Hershal (Short) and Darrell; and sister, Mable Nance; two nephews, LaVerne and Donald Nance; and great-grandson, Dakota Hoffman.
Vi was born in Missouri and moved with her family to Iowa. She attended schools in Dallas County and met her husband in Dallas Center.
Vi worked as a housekeeper, waitress and clerk at Mode ‘O’ Day in Perry. She enjoyed doing crafts for Mimi’s and was a cook at St. Pat’s School for many years.
Vi loved children of all ages, and home and family was her life. She will be missed by many.
Vi, I’ll never forget all of our good talks and happy moments and of course your cinnamon rolls. Rest In Peace.
