The second annual Festival of Trees at the Carnegie Library will begin a four-week run Saturday when visitors can view numerous themed Christmas trees and holiday decorations from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Guests may also visit Sunday from 1-4 p.m.
Those hours will continue each Saturday and Sunday until Dec. 20. The Carnegie will also be open Nov. 27 from 6-8:30 p.m. in conjunction with the Perry Lighted Christmas Parade and associated festivities.
On Dec. 6 children will have an opportunity to have their photo taken with Santa Claus, as the jolly ol’ elf will be present from 1:15-3 p.m.
Admission is free, and visitors will be able to vote with their free-will donations for their favorite tree or display. The event serves as a fundraiser for the Carnegie, which receives no programming funding from the city of Perry and stages its events on a shoestring budget.
The list of local tree decorators includes about 30 individuals, businesses and civic and religious groups.
Those contributing trees or displays were invited to a special VIP showing Friday form 6-8 p.m. with silent auction items available for bidding.
