Most of the St. Patrick's Catholic School faculty attended the auction. Near, from left, Kay Weishaar (first grade), Darcy Spellman (middle school religion and social sciences), Daisy Diaz (fifth grade) and Amy Cosentino. Far, from left, Julie Hudnell (third grade), Rachel Knudtson (middle school language arts), Myah Steward (fourth grade) and her fiancee, David Stubbfield and Tony Consentino (middle school math and science).

For the second consecutive year, the annual St. Patrick Parish Auction was held at La Poste and, like the 2015 edition, the 2016 fundraiser is being considered a solid success.

A total of 40 items, services, gifts and the like were up for bid, with Tom Burkgren donating his talents as auctioneer and Brett Roberts serving as emcee.

Items on the auction block, including a feature story and business profile donated by ThePerryNews.com (won by Jay Pattee), fetched more thanĀ $10,000 in live bidding, with several more thousands generated by a silent auction that attracted nearly as many offerings as did the publicly bid list.

A dinner was held before the bidding began, with the annual O’Malley Award presented during an intermission.

Winning the highest honor bestowed by St. Patrick’s Catholic School, and named in honor of the founder, Nora O’Malley, were Dan and Sally Spellman. The award is given to a person or couple who have devoted many years of volunteer service to the school. A plaque bearing a photo of the Spellmans and a description of their stewardship to the school will be displayed on the Wall of Honor at the entrance to the school gym.
