The Perry High School Student Technology Association sponsored a colorful float in Friday's Lighted Christmas Parade.

Cold weather failed to keep a sizable and enthusiastic crowd away from downtown Perry Friday night as the holiday season officially kicked off with festivities highlighted by the annual Lighted Christmas Parade, sponsored by ITC Midwest.

The parade began at 7 p.m., traveling north along Third Street from Otley Avenue, then turning west down Pattee Street for a block before venturing south along Second Street and ending at Otley Avenue.

Both before and after the parade, many in the crowd stopped by the Carnegie Library Museum to view the Festival of Trees. The event continues on weekends until Dec. 20. Admission is free.

The Perry High School Select Choir entertained an appreciative audience along Railroad Street for the ceremonial lighting of the Community Christmas Tree, with Mayor Jay Pattee and Jan Pattee performing the honor.

Others gathered in the Hotel Pattee, where Santa Claus greeted children and posed for photos, with kids and adults alike taking advantage of complimentary cookies and hot chocolate. The PHS Select Choir then stopped by the hotel lobby to sing a few carols.

Chili with all the fixings was served in the Cellar of La Poste, where people listened to the acoustic sounds of The Bluestems.

Photos from all the festivities can be found following the video selections posted below.
