ADM broke a 1-1 game tie with wins of 25-16 and 25-22 in games three and four, respectively, to claim a 3-1 win over host Perry in Raccoon River Conference volleyball.

The Tigers (8-10, 1-1) were 25-21 winners in game one, but the Jayettes (4-9, 0-1) were able to put two short runs together to post a 25-21 victory in game two. ADM then took advantage of Perry miscues to win game three before staying just out of reach in game four to secure the match.

“Our blocking was great tonight and we had touches on many of their attacks,” Perry head coach Kristel Schultz said. “Unfortunately our passing struggled and that kept us from running on offense. We also — once again — had too many missed serves.”

Perry fell into a 7-1 hole in the opening game but won 14 of the next 20 points to grab a 15-13 lead. Mishits and three errant serves doomed the Jayettes down the stretch and led directly to the 25-21 loss. Unforced errors from Perry gave ADM nine points in the first game alone, highlighting Schultz’s concerns.

Ellie Nielsen had 10 kills and 11 digs for Perry, with Jo Diw adding six kills and 10 digs while Victoria Hegstrom provided seven kills, Taylor Lathrum six and Grace Marburger five. Sidney Vancil distributed 25 assists for the Jayettes, with libero player Mariah Duffy tallying eight digs.

Sami Schepers led ADM with 16 kills, with Sydney Bertman adding eight kills and Brennan Hook seven. Hook had 23 assists, with Jordan Hook contributing 30 digs while serving 22-of-24 with four aces.

The Jayettes will have an opportunity to switch momentum back to their favor Thursday when they host the first of their two annual tournaments.

Earlham, CMB and Panorama will join Perry in Pool I, with Carlisle, CR-B and DC-G in Pool II. Perry begins play at 4:30 against CMB, with matches running continuously.
