Vivian June Conner was born June 12, 1922, to Arthur and Alice Borst near Yale. She died Nov. 15, 2015, at the Perry Health Care Center in Perry. She was 93.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 100 a.m., at the First Christian Church in Perry. Reverend Tim Johnston delivered the words of comfort.

Honorary Bearers were Richard Reitz, Leon McDowell, Everett Van Pelt, Ronnie Gilliland, Ty Enderson, Pete Gelbowitz and John Summerson. Casket Bearers were Doug Brown, Bob Brown, Mitch Conner, Bill Conner, Dave McDowell, Keith LaMont and Kevin LaMont.

Pianist was Elta Summerson. Recorded hymns, “One Day At A Time,” “I’ll Fly Away” and “The Old Rugged Cross,” were selected by the family as well as the congregational hymn, “In The Garden.”

Interment was at Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry.

Vivian was raised and went to a country school near Yale.

She was united in marriage Feb. 14, 1948, to Forest Dean Conner at her parent’s home near Dawson. They made their home in Minburn for a few months and then moved to Iowa City before returning to Perry in 1946. To their union was born four children: Joanne (Jo), Gary, Leroy and Robert.

Vivian was a very kind hearted and selfless person who loved her family unconditionally. She enjoyed babysitting, cleaning homes for others and going to her daughter’s ceramic shop. Vivian took great pride in her abundant collection of dolls.

Music held a special place in Vivian’s heart. Playing her piano, guitar and singing in the Methodist Church choir were a few joyful moments in her life.

Forest and Vivian loved and enjoyed the company of their dogs. They truly loved spending weekends camping and fishing with their family.

Vivian is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Mary Alice (Burchfield) Borst; husband, Forest Conner; sons, Gary Conner and Robert Connor; brothers, Kennth Borst, Clarence Borst and Melvin Borst; sisters, Gladys Wernli, Maxine Cole and Marjorie Netherton; son-in-law, Thomas (Gene) Brown; great-granddaughter, Amber Stump.

Vivian is survived by her daughter, Joanne (Jo) Brown and fiancé, Dale Luckinbill, of Rippey; son, Leroy (Cheryl) Conner of Perry; sister-in-law, Mary Borst of Norwalk; grandchildren, Doug (Kim) Brown of Baudette, Minn., Bob (Roxanne) Brown of Rippey, Bill (Kim) Conner of Perry, Cindy (Donnie) Mentz of Portland, Ore., and Mitch Conner (fiancé Jing) of Ankeny; 14 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; many nieces; nephews; and friends.
