Voter deadlines approaching / Se acercan los plazos para votar

The Dallas County Auditor’s office will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 27 for the voter pre-registration and absentee request deadline. Voters who register after Oct. 27 or on the Nov. 6 election day at the polls will need to show proof of residence and proof of identity.

Proof of residency must be current within the last 45 days. Hard-copy proof of residency (electronic copies are unacceptable) can be accomplished with:
• Property tax statement
• Utility bill
• Bank Statement
• Paycheck
• Other government document

Acceptable proofs of identification must contain a photo:
• Iowa driver’s license
• Out-of-state driver’s license
• Non-driver identification card
• U.S. passport
• Veteran ID

All forms of ID must be current, valid, and contain an expiration date. Voters may cast an absentee ballot at the Dallas County Auditor’s Office during normal business hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. In addition, below is a list of satellite voting location and dates:

Oct. 22 – 2-8 p.m.

St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church

Oct. 23 – 2-8 p.m.

Perry Public Safety Building
908 Willis Ave., Perry
Oct. 25 – 2-8 p.m.

Heartland Presbyterian Church
14300 Hickman Rd., Clive
Oct. 27 – 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Dallas County Auditor’s Office
210 N, 10th St., Adel
Oct. 18, 22, 23, and 25 – 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
Oct. 27 – 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Nov. 3 – 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Voters can also vote absentee in the Dallas County Auditor’s office at 210 N. 10th St. in Adel during regular office hours from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday through Nov. 5.

La oficina del Auditor del Condado de Dallas estará abierta de 8 a.m. a 5 p.m. 27 de octubre para la fecha límite de preinscripción de votantes y solicitud de ausencia.   1. This is for US citizens, right? Non-citizens cannot vote in elections. I hope that this information is made clear. Wouldn’t want to see members of the community embarrassed by incorrect information.
