A medical emergency at the boys basketball practice Wednesday has resulted in a W-G student being Life-flighted to a Des Moines hospital.

WOODWARD — The news came in just before midnight Friday and it was not good for the Woodward-Granger track teams.

The Hawks boys and girls 4×800 teams were hoping to earn one of eight available at-large bids, but, unfortunately, such was not to be the case.

The margin was maddeningly close for the W-G girls, whose clocking of 10 minutes, 27.15 seconds would have secured a spot, but, because the first two teams as each of the eight district sites are guaranteed a spot, the Hawks were bumped by a slower — but second-place — time.

W-G will send the boys 1600 medley relay to Drake Stadium, with Kaleb Noel to compete in the boys 400 hurdles while Abby Musser will run in both the 100 and 400 hurdles. Musser has the third-fastest seed time in the former and is seeded fifth in the later.

ThePerryNews.com will have a preview of the three races early next week, as well as complete coverage of the Hawk entrants at the state meet.
