WOODWARD — A quick start helped carry Woodward-Granger to a 58-40 win over visiting Ogden in their Class 2A Region 2 first round contest Saturday.
W-G (5-15) had three players score in double-digits for the first time this season in the win. The hosts led, 25-12, at the intermission en route to the win.
Ogden (1-20) had defeated Madrid in their regular season finale to avoid a winless campaign, but could not handle W-G Saturday.
Darby Nixon led the hosts with 19 points, with Grace Deputy adding 15 points and Ava Petersen 14.
The win sends W-G on a long road trip Tuesday to face host Grundy Center (16-3). The winner will play, in Grundy Center, in the Reginal Final Friday. Games start at 7 p.m.
