WOODWARD — Rain moved the May 26 WCC softball game between Guthrie Center and host Woodward-Granger to Wednesday, but the unfortunate visitors were hit by a storm anyway, as the Hawks belted 11 hits en route to a 12-0 three-inning victory.

Riley Jamison allowed one hit and struck out two in a shortened start for the hosts.

“She is pitching to the zone and keeping the ball low so the defense can do its job,” Hawk head coach Noah Bean said. “If she keeps doing that we are going to be in real good shape.”

Dalaney Bice crunched her fourth home run in six games this season and added a single and a double for the home team. Meagan Bandstra was 3-for-3 with two doubles and a pair of RBIs while Kaycee Major had a double and drove in a run.

The offense also received a lift from Kendra Husmann and Maggi Mallon, each of whom were 1-for-2 with three RBIs.

W-G (5-1, 3-0) will travel to Harcourt this evening to play host Southeast Valley, with a journey to Bondurant-Farrar slated for Friday. The team opens play at the Belle Plaine tourney Saturday against Benton Community at 9 a.m. with Williamsburg facing the hosts in the other side of the four-team bracket.
