W-G girls turned aside in consecutive contests

PANORA — Class 3A No. 6 Panorama issued a 56-22 loss to visiting Woodward-Granger in WCAC girls basketball Friday, one day after host M-SM had dismissed the Hawks, 60-33, in non-conference play.

Panorama established their dominance from the opening moments, scoring the first 23 points in the game before entering the half with a 30-8 advantage.

Darby Nixon had eight points to lead W-G, with Ava Petersen adding five points. Faith Keuhl had three points, with Libby Grell, Grace Deputy and Rian Jamison scoring two points apiece. Nixon hit two 3-point shots and Keuhl one.

Laci Rishel had 14 points and Ella Waddle 10 to guide the Panthers to the victory.

M-SM (3-2) held only a 14-11 advantage after the first eight minutes Thursday, but a 17-7 second quarter helped the home team open a 31-18 halftime gap. A 23-5 third quarter put the game out of reach in favor of the Blue Devils.

Nixon had eight points and Petersen and Grace Deputy five each for the Hawks. Jamison scored four points, with Keuhl adding three points while Jenna Achenbach, McKenna Carroll, Lily Smith and Georgia Simmons tallying two points apiece.

Statistical information for M-SM was not available.

W-G will host Earlham Tuesday and West Central Valley Friday for a pair of WCAC boys/girls set, each beginning at 6 p.m.
