W-G matmen fall to Indianola, Pella

PELLA — The Woodward-Granger wrestlers competed in a triangular Thursday, dropping a 42-30 dual to Indianola and suffering a 40-39 loss to Pella when the hosts won on the first tiebreaker after the teams were tied at 39-all. Indianola whipped Pella, 56-12, in the other dual at the event.

Cody Fisher (220 pounds), Aidan Honkomp (113), Colt Palmer (132) and Gabe Yingst (160) were all 2-0 at the triangular with two pin falls wins apiece while Tyler Lawrenson (285) won twice by decision.

Cale Pritchett (170) and Kade Polich (182) were both 1-1, with each scoring a pin against Pella, while Matthew White was 1-1 at 120 pounds with a decision against Indianola.

Joel Harney (106), Dilynn Lewiston (126), Dustin Harney (138), Jayden Dorenkamp (145), Jon McKeever (152) and Nathaniel Rosen (195) were all in action for the Hawks but were unable to record a victory.

The Hawks will participate Saturday as one of 18 teams in the Perry Invitational. They will hold Senior Night Tuesday with a triangular (teams unavailable).
