WOODWARD — Every volleyball team in the West Central Conference stopped by the Woodward-Granger gym this afternoon, but not a single point was recorded.

The reason? A conference-wide scrimmage, which had netters from AC/GC, Des Moines Christain, Earlham, Madrid, Ogden, Panorama, West Central Valley and Van Meter joining W-G in 20-minute timed and unscored matches.

W-G has won four of the last five conference crowns, including the last two. They are 40-2 since 2011 and between 2014 and 2015 have lost one set in WCC play. The Hawks were 29-9 last season, with their only loss to a school smaller than 3A coming in the playoffs to No. 6 Grundy Center. All six starters return for the Hawks, who open their season Aug. 27 at the Bondurant-Farrar tournament.
