WOODWAD, Iowa — Senior libero player Darby Nixon of Woodward-Granger was recently named to the Class 2A volleyball All-State Honorable Mention team by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.

Nixon had 425 digs this season, finishing her career with 1,017 digs. She served 182-of-218 (84 percent) with a total of 28 aces and had 87 assists along with 14 digs.

In addition to the all-state recognition, Nixon was chosen for the 2A Central All-District team.

W-G was 11-21 overall and 8-2 against WCAC competition. The Hawks were 11-3 against teams in their class (2A) or smaller, with 14 of their 18 losses coming to schools larger than 2A.

The Hawks are coached by Virginia Polich.
