W-G softball 4-7 overall after last three results

Woodward-Granger's Miranda Aunspach laces a base hit at Ogden June 4 of last year. Aunspach had a double and three RBIs at Ogden Tuesday.

BELLE PLAINE — Woodward-Granger split a pair of games at the Plainsman Tourney Saturday, defeating host Belle Plaine, 3-2, before being no-hit in suffering an 11-0 loss in five innings to Class 3A top-ranked Benton Community. The split came a day after W-G fell to visiting Bondurant-Farrar, 11-1.

Annie Webb drew a base-on-balls to prevent a perfect game for Bobcat hurler Amber Fiser as Benton Community cruised to an 11-0 win in the second game of the day Saturday for W-G.

The Hawks had opened play by edging the host Plainsman in a game in which W-G was the home team on the scoreboard.

Belle Plaine had scored once in the top of the first, but W-G tied the game in their first at-bat when Bree Lesch singled and eventually scored on an error.

A Plainsman run in the top of the third put the Hawks in a 2-1 hole, but a fourth-inning walk to Webb and a throwing error tied the game. W-G scored the winning run later in the frame when Carli Major singled and eventually scored on a Kendra Husmann RBI-single.

Alyssa Bice had a double in the win for W-G.

The Hawks were coming off an 11-1 loss, in seven innings, to 3A No. 10. Bondurant-Farrar Friday.

Alison Soelberg singled in the fifth for the hosts, with a base hit from Miranda Aunspach and a RBI-single from Husmann plating the run. The trio of singles were the only hits in the game for W-G.

Madrid visits W-G (4-7 overall) Monday, with W-G to visit Panorama Tuesday.
