WOODWARD — The only question entering Thursday’s West Central Conference match between Ogden and host Woodward-Granger was whether or not W-G could be forced into possibly sharing the league crown with Van Meter.

W-G (26-6) wasted little time in insuring their third consecutive outright crown, winning 3-0 behind scores of 25-11, 25-18 and 25-21. The Hawks have lost a combined two sets in the past three seasons, and have won five WCC crowns in their eight years in the league, with a 63-4 all-time mark in the conference.

Olivia McCune had 12 kills, Mary Hansen nine and Bree Lesch eight, with Alyssa Bice and Ashley Gales tallying three kills each and Julie Pitman one. Hansen had 15 assists, Bice 14, Lesch two and Riley Kirton one, with Bice recording the only Hawk block in the match.

Lesch led the team with 17 digs, with Kara Bodensteiner adding 11. Hansen had eight digs, Bice six, Mcune and Pitman four apiece, Kirton three and Gales one.

W-G was led in serving by Lesch’s 23-of-23 effort that included six aces. Hansen was 10-11-4, Bodensteiner 13-13-1, Kirton 9-9-1, Bice 6-9-2 and McCune 7-of-9.

The W-G netters let loose after winning their third consecutive WCC crown -- all of them with undefeated records. The Hawks have lost two sets in WCC play over the three-year span.
