W-G teams finally able to take to the track

The Woodward-Granger girls were one of eight teams in action at the Ogden Relays Thursday.

CARROLL — The Woodward-Granger track squads were finally able to experience meet action when they traveled to the Carroll Coed Relays Monday.

The W-G boys finished with 12 team points while the Hawk girls scored 25 points.

Brendan Bird had the best individual finish for the Hawk boys when his spin of 123 feet, six inches in the discus earned the sophomore fourth place.

Ian Thompson, J.P. Nixon, Dilynn Lewiston and Bird teamed to place fifth in the 4×800 in 9 minutes, 55.08 seconds, with the quartet of Payton Tague, Nick Moser, Gabe Yingst and Nixon finishing sixth in the shuttle hurdle in 1:16.64.

The W-G girls scored in four individual events, including Emma Buckman’s spin of 78’4 in the discus, an effort that secured sixth place. Regan Kaufman was fifth in the 800 in 2:51.29, with Kaitlyn Peters sixth in the 1500 in 6:03.33 while Savannah David crossed sixth in the 400 hurdles in 1:21.99.

The foursome of Maddisyn Anderson, Josie Noland, Kayley Dresback and Anna Tague were third in both the sprint medley (2:06.02) and the distance medley (4:53.59) while Anderson, Noland, Alyssa Bice and Mary Hansen were sixth in the 4×200 (2:08.01).

Peters, Hansen, Kaufman and Riley Jamison placed fourth in the 4×800 with a clocking of 11:47.28, with Tague, Dresback, Noland and Peters teaming for fifth place in the 4×400 in 4:40.21.

The W-G girls will compete at Ogden Thursday, with both W-G squads visiting the Southeast Valley Relays in Gowrie Monday.
