W-G thinclads spend Monday at Carroll coed

CARROLL — Woodward-Granger’s girls track team competed for the second time in four days and the boys squad the second in five when the Hawks participated in the Carroll Coed Relays Monday.

South Central Calhoun’s 140 points won the boys side, with IKM-Manning second at 128. Third place went to Greene County (100), with Carroll (73), Audubon (40), MVAU/COU (35), Perry (35) and W-G (31) also in action.

The hosts won the girls meet with 139.5 points, with Greene County (94), IKM-Manning (92) and Roland-Story (89) tightly packed for spots 2-4. Audubon was fifth at 73 points, with MVAO/COU (39.5), W-G (35) and Perry (20) rounding out the field.

Keith Braunschweig continued to provide points in multiple events for the Hawk boys. He was fourth in the 400 hurdles in 1 minute, 2.47 seconds, fifth in the 100 hurdles in 16.77 seconds and sixth in the high jump after clearing 5 feet, six inches.

Bryce Achenbach and Dylan Bird were 3-4 in the long jump at 19’1-1/2 and 19’1, with Justin Wheeler spinning the discus 89’11 while Jack Muesburger shoved the shot put 29’9-1/2.

Logan Roll ran the 100 (12.24), Tate Lettow the 200 (27.07) and Worth Henry the 400 (59.57) while Caleb Jones ran the 800 (2:21.65), with Dylan Steele competing in both the 1600 (5:38.54) and 3200 (12:28.98).

Jones, Cody Garland, Kaya Bowlsby and Cale Pritchett were third in the 4×800 (9:25.44), Polich, Achenbach, Bird and Reese Jamison were fifth in the 4×100 (48.38), with Polich, Jamison, Garland and Achenbach sixth in the sprint medley (1:47.11) and Polich, Jamison, Garland and Jones sixth in the distance medley (4:12.42).

The shuttle hurdle finished third in 1:11.56, but the names of those competing were not provided. Also in action was the 4×400, with Garland, Achnebach, Bird and Pritchett crossing in 4:08.47.

The W-G girls won the 4×400 in 4:28.3, with Kayley Dresback, Emmad Drake, Ava Petersen and Anna Tague passing the wand. Alexandria Mehrhoff, Macey Lisle, Abby Pommrehn and Kate Grell raced to second in the distance medley in 4:41.4, with Mehrhoff, Dresback, Chloe Hogue and Emma Anderson fourth in the sprint medley, in 2:03.9, while Hogue, Petersen, Gena Tague and Brayten Ashman placed fourth in the 4×200 at 2:02.52.

Drake, Petersen, Anna Tague and Bella Milosevich teamed to finish fourth, in 12:38.27, in the 4×800, with Hogue, Anderson, Mehrhoff and Gena Tague sixth, in 58.26, in the 4×100 while the quartet of Ashman, Mae Anderson, Olivia Sus and Hannah Miller crossed sixth, in 1:23.18, in the shuttle hurdle.

A clocking of 2:46.72 from Drake in the 800 earned fourth place, with Hogue sixth in the 100 in 14.51. Petersen ran the 200 (29.56), Pommrehn the 400 (1:16.15), Milosevich the 1500 (6:28.21) and Posey Robinson the 3000 (14:41.39).

Sus competed in the 100 hurdles (19.94) and Ashman the 400 hurdles (1:22.18) with Mehrhoff landing at 13 feet in the long jump while Katelyn Scharlau tossed the shot put 29’9-1/2 and Janae Jones the discus 82’6.

The Hawk girls will visit Ogden Thursday, with both W-G squads competing Monday in the Southeast Valley Invitational.
