W-G tops Saydel, host PCM in mat action Thursday

MONROE — Woodward-Granger had six wrestlers win both of their matches Thursday to help carry the Hawks to a pair of team dual victories.

W-G scored a 54-30 win over Saydel before topping host PCM, 47-33, in their second dual. PCM was a 46-27 winner over Saydel in the other dual at the meet.

Cale Pritchett scored pins in 49 seconds and then in 1 minute, 37 seconds to finish 2-0 for W-G at 170 pounds.

Joel Harney (113 pounds) was 2-0 with a 54-second pin and a forfeit, with Peyton Nixon (106) following a win by forfeit with a win via technical fall, 20-5, in 2:25. Kade Polich (182) had a forfeit and a pin in 14 seconds to finish 2-0, with Tjaden Smeltzer (126) claiming two wins by forfeit.

Also 2-0 was Cody Fisher, who received a forfeit against Saydel at 220 before stepping up to 285 to record a pin against PCM.

W-G thus left 220 open against PCM, with heavyweight Alex Evans wrestling once and winning by fall, in 54 seconds, against Saydel.

Corbyn Atwell was 1-1 at 120 with a pin, in 42 seconds, against PCM, with Jayden Dorenkamp 1-1 with a pin against PCM, in 3:02, at 145 pounds.

Also 1-1 for W-G were 132-pounder Matthew White and 152-pounder Dustin Harney, each of who had their win come by forfeit from Saydel.

Jayden Flugge-Smith (138), Kolby Fogarty (160) and Devan Brown (195) were also in action for the Hawks, but all were unable to find their way to victory in either of their two matches.

W-G will return to action Saturday with a visit to the Winterset Invitational.
