Woodward-Granger hosted the 10 other WCAC schools playing volleyball for scrimmages Thursday. Each team was able to play six 20-minute unscored matches.

WOODWARD — The addition of league newcomers Interstate-35 and Pleasantville raised to 11 the number of WCAC schools playing volleyball (the Woodward Academy the exception).

All attended Thursday’s annual WCAC at Woodward-Granger, with AC/GC, Des Moines Christian, Earlham, I-35, Madrid, Ogden, Panorama, Pleasantville, Van Meter and West Central Valley joining the hosts for a busy slate that began at 3 p.m.

Each team played six scrimmages. The matches were self-officiated and timed at 20 minutes, with no score kept.

W-G and new head coach Bailey Hunt will begin their season Aug. 23 with a visit from WCV. The Hawks will play in the Skip Anderson Tourney at Bondurant-Farrar Saturday, as they have for many seasons. The team will host DMC Aug. 28 before ending the month by playing in the ADM Classic Aug. 30.
