ADEL, Iowa — In response to the forecast of extremely low temperatures for next week, the Dallas County Emergency Management Department will host warming centers across the county all week.

“Due to the anticipated frigid temperatures for most of next week, warming centers will be activated from Sunday, Feb. 16 through Friday, Feb, 21,” said Lynn Royer, emergency management specialist in the Dallas County Emergency Management Agency.

In Perry the warming center will be at the Perry Public Library at 1101 Willis Ave., Royer said.

“We encourage everyone to call ahead before arriving at these centers,” she said.

Warming centers are facilities where persons can temporarily go during periods of extreme temperatures in order to get out of dangerous weather conditions.

Individuals in need of transportation to the warming center should call 515-993-9894 or 515-993-4567.

Additional information regarding warming centers within Des Moines Metro communities in Dallas County can be found by calling 211.
