A Waukee man was arrested Tuesday on a Dallas County warrant in connection with incidents last week in which he allegedly assaulted a Des Moines woman in the home with a handgun.
Sai Lokesh Kathi, 30, of 700 N.E. Alice’s Road, Waukee, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-with intent or displays a weapon.
The incident occurred March 6 about 4 a.m. at a residence in the 700 block of N.E. Alice’s Road and was reported to the Waukee Police Department by the victim March 7.
Officers responded and made contact with the victim, who told the officers that Kathi allegedly “struck her with a handgun on her right-side rib cage area and also bit her back, near her right shoulder blade area,” according to court records.
The officers observed on the victim “marks on the female’s body, and it appeared consistent with the victim’s statements,” according to court records.
A warrant for Kathi’s arrest was ordered March 10 in Dallas County District Court and served March 11. Kathi is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $2,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing March 24 in Dallas County District Court.
*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
