Jesse James Dalton, 30, of Waukee was arrested Wednesday on a charge of first-offense domestic abuse assault-injury or mental illness.

A Waukee man allegedly assaulted his girlfriend Wednesday when “she would not talk to him,” according to court records.

Jesse James Dalton, 30, of 75 S.E. Windfield Parkway, Waukee, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-injury or mental illness.

Officers with the Waukee Police Department responded to Winfield Parkway about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The officers made contact with the victim, who said Dalton allegedly “threw her against the wall” and “took her two cell phones from her so she could not call for help and ripped her Apple watch off her wrist,” according to court records.

Officers searched the residence and determined Dalton left the area.

The victim was observed to have “a scrape on her wrist from when her watch was ripped off, as well as scrapes/red marks on her upper and lower back.” She said Dalton “threw a pizza she had ordered on the floor and took her phones from her before pushing her against the wall, causing injury to her back.”

Officers later made contact with Dalton and located the victim’s phones and watch “hidden on a shelf in the bedroom closet.”

Dalton is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing April 6 in Dallas County District Court.
