A Waukee man was arrested Monday in connection with an incident last week in which he allegedly assaulted two men in Clive in an apparent road-rage incident.
Dwight Edward Gaines Jr., 56, of 1510 S.E. Traden Dr., Waukee, was charged with two counts of assault-intent to cause pain/injury.
The incident began March 1 about 11:30 p.m. on Hickman Road in Clive, where Gaines allegedly “got out of his vehicle” and “struck the driver and passenger both in their face and got back in his vehicle and left,” according to court records.
Gaines allegedly “punched” the Waukee victim “in the cheek/jaw area multiple times” and “punched” the Clive victim “in the nose, causing it to bleed,” according to court records.
Gaines was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $600 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing March 24 in Dallas County District Court.
Gaines was convicted of assault with intent to inflict serious injury in 2018 in Dallas County District Court.
